Privacy Policy

This policy covers this website and the forms on it. Data a business licenses through Sell My Failed Startup is handled under the agreement for that deal, not under this policy.

Who looks after your information

Sell My Failed Startup is operated by Apprentice Labs Pty Ltd, Sydney, Australia. We are responsible for the personal information described here. Email wilson@apprenticelabs.io with any question about this policy or your information.

What we collect

We only collect what you type into our forms. Which details depend on the form you use:

  • Detailed assessment. Your name, email, phone number, role and organisation, and what you tell us about the startup: what it did, where it was based, its size, when it closed, who owns its assets now, and the tools it used.
  • Buying data. Your name, work email, phone number, organisation and what you are looking for.
  • Referral partners. Your name, email, phone number, LinkedIn profile, country, and the industries and businesses in your network.

The forms ask for descriptions, not the records themselves. Please don't send raw emails, customer files, passwords or other sensitive information through them. If you email or speak with us afterwards, what you tell us may be added to your enquiry.

Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you open and when, to run the site, keep it secure and give us visitor numbers.

Why we use it

We use your information to review your enquiry, reply to you, prepare an estimate or assessment, arrange calls, work out whether we can help, and pay referral fees to the right person. An estimate on this site is a rough guide, not an offer or a promise of payment.

If you list data with us, we will only describe it to potential buyers with your agreement, and we don't pass your contact details to buyers without asking you first. If a business was referred to us, we record who referred it.

Who receives it

Only the people at Sell My Failed Startup who handle enquiries can see them. The site runs on providers who store or process information for us: our website host, our database provider, the service that sends our notification emails, and our email inbox provider. They handle it for us under their own terms and not for their own purposes.

We don't sell your personal information. We may disclose it where the law requires us to, or to protect our legal rights.

Cookies and browser storage

We don't add advertising pixels or tracking cookies to this site. The detailed assessment saves your unfinished answers in your own browser so you can come back to them, and clears them once you submit. You can also clear them yourself through your browser settings.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry records while we need them to follow up, work on a possible deal, or meet our legal obligations. Ask us at wilson@apprenticelabs.io and we will delete yours, unless the law requires us to keep it.

Where information is processed

Some of our providers store or process information outside Australia, for example in the United States or Europe, where privacy laws may differ. Email us if you want to know more about where your information is held.

Keeping it safe

Enquiries are stored in a database that visitors to the site cannot read, and access is limited to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access.

Your choices

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, and you can tell us to stop contacting you. Email wilson@apprenticelabs.io and we will reply within 30 days.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can try to fix it. You can also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

We will update the effective date at the top of this page whenever the policy changes. If a change affects how we use information you have already given us, we will ask you first.
